Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Technology

It is an all-rounder course that provides students with a comprehensive experience in performing different types of medical tests-routine tests or specialized ones. You will learn how to perform tests relating to serology, phlebotomy, haematology, cytogenetics, and clinical biochemistry. The results of these tests enable doctors to diagnose and treat their patients. So, the course is designed for an aspiring medical lab technician.

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Technologyis a 3-years degree course affiliated to MAKAUT (formally known as WBUT) and approved by UGC.

• Medical Laboratory Technician: You can find work in clinics, blood donation centers, hospitals, and laboratories, and perform tests and analyze specimens.
• Lab Manager: You will be responsible for managing the laboratory operations, supervising staff, ensuring that the laboratory conforms to regulatory standards, and managing supplies and equipment.
• Research Assistant: You can get employed in research institutions for performing experiments, working on research projects, and analyzing data.
• Quality Control Officer: You are responsible for making sure that the lab meets the quality and regulatory standards.
• Academics: You may opt for further studies like post graduation and work later as educators and researchers in academia.
• Freelancer: You can work freelance as a phlebotomist and draw good pay.
• Hospital Technicians: You can find work as anesthesia technician, laboratory technician, MRI technician, OT technician, pathology technician, optical laboratory, physiotherapy technician, etc.

Medical Lab Technology is a full-time 3-years course approved by the UGC, divided into 8 semesters. And includes field projects for building practical experience.

Any student who has passed the 10+2 examination with English is eligible for admission.

Admissions are conducted according to the norms laid down by MAKAUT / Management of George Group of Colleges.
