B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology is an undergraduate program in the field of Allied Health Sciences. This degree course aims at creating professionals with the knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases with the help of clinical laboratory tests.
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Technology is a three-year degree course affiliated to MAKAUT (formally known as WBUT).
Students of Medical Lab Technology are taught subjects like Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Health Education & Health Communication, Biochemistry, Clinical Haematology, Histopathology & Histotechniques, Microbiology, Immunology & Serology, Microbiology, Immunology & Serology etc.
On successful completion of the course, students can be employed as Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Manager, Research Associate, Medical Record Technician, Medical Officer, Resident Medical Officer, Associate Professor or Lecturer, Lab Assistant, Laboratory Testing Manager and others in sectors like Hospitals, Colleges and Universities, Pathological Clinics, Blood Donation Centres, etc.
You will even be able to pursue higher education at the Master’s Degree level or any other higher qualification in India or abroad. You can also plan for Ph.D after Master’s.
MAKAUT’s B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology is a 3-year, full-time course. The course is divided into 6 semesters. There is sufficient emphasis on field projects for building practical experience.
Any student who has passed 10+2 with English and Science stream (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) is eligible for admission.
Admissions are as per the norms laid down by MAKAUT / Management of George Group of Colleges.
