Launched a sports club George College of Games and Sports
George School of Games and Sports is an initiative of George Group of Colleges, a unit of The George Telegraph Group.
At the official announcement of the Association of George College with the College of Games and Sports at the George College on the 20th of May 2022, Mr. Manoj Joshi, Director and Trustee, George Group of Colleges said “George School of Games and Sports is the amalgamation of study with the practice of managerial responsibilities through the activities of the club and is expected to result in capacity building in both managerial function and on the playing field.”
The welcome note was followed by the launch of the new jersey of the club and its distribution to the players by Mr. Anirban Dutta, Director and Trustee of the The George Telegraph Group, Treasurer of Indian Football Association, Secretary of College of Games and Sports.
In his Keynote address Mr. Subrata Dutta, Managing Director and Trustee of The George Telegraph Group said “The Introduction of George College of Games and Sports (GCOGS) is an exclusive opportunity to give professional guidance and help the junior players for their development and to create future players for the country.”
Other dignitaries who attended the program were Mr. Sabyasachi Sarkar, Football Secretary, The George Telegraph Sports Club, Mr. Sunirmal Chakraborty, Team Coach, College of Games and Sports (COGS), Mr. Santanu Dutta, Secretary, Football Academy and Mr. Sandipan Ghosh, Registrar- Academic Affairs, George College.
The George Telegraph Group has been associated with the management of sports for more than 9 decades.
George Group of Colleges had launched the Bachelors Degree in Sports Management in 2005. It was the first institute to introduce the Bachelor Degree course in Sports Management in Eastern India with the vision to professionally train the future managers in the field of sports. The course is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, WB (formerly known as WBUT). “This association will help our students of the Sports Management department to be a part of the professional world of sports and gain hands on experience while we are learning our theory and principals of management.” said an enthusiastic 2 nd year student Of George College.
We are hopeful to see wholesome development in the players and club management system with the application of the knowledge once students acquire in our classrooms.
